Media personality-turned-preacher Apostle Jonathan Nalebo has sparked debate in Uganda’s music industry after making bold remarks comparing Sheebah Karungi and Cindy Sanyu.
Speaking during an interview on a local podcast, Nalebo praised Sheebah as a true music legend, highlighting her long-standing consistency and influence in the industry.
According to Nalebo, Sheebah has remained relevant for over a decade, consistently delivering at least one major hit every year since her breakthrough — a record he says very few Ugandan artists can match.
“Sheebah is a legend. She has had a number one song or two every year since she broke through. She is the most consistent and commercial Ugandan musician.”
He further noted that Sheebah’s impact goes beyond music, crediting her for inspiring many upcoming female artists through her fashion sense, lifestyle, and musical direction.
However, Nalebo was quick to clarify that while he considers Cindy a strong music star, her edge over Sheebah lies mainly in performance and vocal ability.
“Cindy is a music star and only beats Sheebah in performance and singing.”
In an even bolder claim, Nalebo added that Sheebah’s music catalogue is so solid that she could defeat King Saha in a music battle, purely on the strength of her hit songs.
