Agnes Kirabo, the mother of Mr Lee’s first-born child, has called on President Yoweri Museveni to intervene in the controversial Luweero District Woman MP elections, demanding a recount.
Kirabo lost the hotly contested race to Brenda Nabukenya of the National Unity Platform (NUP), who was declared winner after polling 67,399 votes against Kirabo’s 55,696 votes in the January 15 elections.
However, Kirabo insists she did not genuinely lose the election and claims the results were manipulated by the Luweero District returning officer.
Speaking in an interview with a local television station, Kirabo accused the Electoral Commission of fraud, alleging that her victory was handed over to another candidate.
“According to the declaration forms I have, I won the elections. I was cheated by the returning officer. He declared fake results in favour of the National Unity Platform candidate. I am seeking help from the President for a recount,” Kirabo said.
She further revealed that she plans to petition the High Court over the alleged electoral malpractices, saying she is determined to fight for what she believes is her rightful victory.
The dispute has since sparked debate in Luweero, with supporters divided over the credibility of the election outcome.
