Gagamel boss Bebe Cool has come out strongly, demanding respect from Eddy Kenzo, saying he and other artistes who supported the ruling party long before Kenzo deserve special recognition.
Bebe Cool (real name Moses Saali) has been a public supporter of President Yoweri Museveni and the National Resistance Movement (NRM) for over two decades.
Over the years, he has openly campaigned for Museveni, rallied fans across the country, and even clashed with sections of the public — all in defense of the NRM government.
A few years ago, Eddy Kenzo officially joined NRM and was appointed Presidential Advisor on Creatives by President Museveni, a move that elevated his political profile.
However, tensions between the two camps escalated during the just-ended electoral season, with both sides trading accusations of jealousy and disrespect.
Now, Bebe Cool says Kenzo must acknowledge and respect the pioneers.
“We deserve maximum respect because we were there before him. He must respect us. We put our careers on the line for NRM. People like Jose Chameleone, Catherine Kusasira among others. We need total respect from that boy,” Bebe Cool said.
The outspoken singer insists that senior artistes who supported Museveni in difficult times laid the foundation that newer entrants like Kenzo are now benefiting from.
Bebe Cool further revealed that President Museveni highly appreciates musicians who have consistently worked for him over the years, adding that the President often refers to them as “Generals” in recognition of their loyalty and contribution.
The comments have since reignited debate online, with fans split between those backing Bebe Cool’s seniority argument and others defending Eddy Kenzo’s current influence in government circles.
