Musician Irene Namatovu has advised young women against making a habit of checking their partners' phones, saying the practice often creates unnecessary stress and tension in relationships.

Speaking during an interview with a local YouTuber, Namatovu revealed that she used to go through her husband Geoffrey Lutaaya's phone in the early years of their marriage. However, she said experience taught her that the habit brought more harm than peace.

"Back then, I used to be very curious, but many people go through those stages. They are torturous, and I tell young girls going into marriage not to do it because it will only disturb you," she partly explained.

The singer said she has since abandoned the habit, adding that trust has helped strengthen their marriage.

"Even if I find his phone without a password, it's pointless now. I even leave mine next to him and go do other things. It brings peace," she added.

Namatovu encouraged couples to build relationships founded on trust and mutual respect instead of suspicion, saying peace of mind is more valuable than constantly searching through a partner's phone.
