Dancehall musician Kapeke has revealed that some of his song ideas come to him through dreams, offering a glimpse into the unusual creative process behind his music.
Kapeke, who writes his own songs, said he draws inspiration from the people and experiences around him but sometimes wakes up with ideas that first came to him while asleep.
Speaking in an interview with a local television station, the singer explained that his songwriting process is influenced by different sources.
“I write my songs myself. I draw inspiration from everything around me, but surprisingly, many of my song ideas come to me in my dreams,” he said.
Kapeke also revealed that Gen Z plays a major role in shaping his music, with the younger generation remaining his primary target audience.
He said he keeps them in mind whenever he enters the studio to work on new material.
“I make my music mainly for Gen Z. When I'm in the studio working on a song, I always have Gen Z in mind,” he added.
Kapeke has continued to build a strong following among young Ugandans, particularly through music that he says is deliberately created with their tastes and interests in mind.
