David Emong won a silver medal at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio De Janiero on Friday.

This is Uganda's first ever medal of any sort in the history of the games since 1972 when the East African country debuted.

He was the only representative from Uganda at the games for the physically handicapped personalities held after the main Olympic games.

Emong, 26, took part in the men's T46 1500m event, crossing the finishing line in four minutes and 62 microseconds (4:00.62) to take silver, behind the eventual winner, Algerian Nouioua Samir who clocked three-and-a half-lap race in 3:59.46.
