It wasn’t the first display of emotion or national pride but Ivory Coast player Serey Die genuinely couldn’t compose himself during his country’s national anthem.
The midfielder, who plays in Switzerland for Basel, was weeping rather uncontrollably while the anthem played.
Usually we might see eyes filled with tears or a solitary tear rolling down a player’s cheer but Serey Die seemed overwhelmed by the occasion.
Sporting a blond mohawk, Die tried to keep a stiff upper lip in an attempt to sing the words of his nations anthem but just couldn't control his tears.
