Persis Namuganza declares her bid for Speaker of Uganda’s 12th Parliament, vowing to restore dignity and fight corruption as she seeks to unseat Anita Among with alleged backing from Rebecca Kadaga.

Thomas Tayebwa the Deputy Speaker of Parliament has named a seven-member committee that will summon Persis Namuganza, the State Minister for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development.

Namuganza had dragged the Attorney General to court, seeking 1 billion shillings in damages, in addition to demanding that an Adhoc committee recommendation be squashed because she wasn't given a fair hearing.

When Parliament grilled the Lands Minister on whether action had been taken in regards to the recommendations, she declined to speak, stating that she was not ready.
