Politician and musician Geoffrey Lutaaya is facing intense public scrutiny after a 17-year-old girl, identified only as Nambatya, appeared in a viral video claiming to be his biological daughter and accusing him of neglect.
In the emotional clip, Nambatya alleged that Lutaaya has failed to pay her tuition, leading to poor academic performance, and that both she and her mother have been completely cut off from communicating with the Hon. Lutaaya.
The video sparked immediate public backlash, with critics questioning Lutaaya’s suitability for political office while others targeted his wife, fellow musician Irene Namatovu, accusing her of being unsympathetic.
Lutaaya quickly released a statement refuting the claims. He provided what he claimed were receipts proving he had paid full tuition for Nambatya at the reputable Stella Maris Nsuube boarding school. He asserted that the girl’s mother later withdrew her and enrolled her in the lower-tier Boston High School.
The politician further disclosed that he had paid the mother a hefty UGX 6 million reimbursement demand during the COVID-19 lockdown to avoid public scandal, especially following his election to Parliament.
Lutaaya concluded by appealing to the mother to allow Nambatya to live with him and his family, revealing plans to sponsor her education abroad, an opportunity he believes her mother cannot afford.
