Singer Joshua Baraka has hit back at fellow musician King Saha after the latter questioned his pursuit of international music success, describing the veteran singer’s mindset as “shallow.”
The exchange follows remarks Saha made during a TikTok Live session, where he advised Baraka to focus on Uganda’s music market rather than chasing global recognition.
Saha argued that breaking into the international music scene is a long-term pursuit that requires substantial financial investment and comes with no guarantee of success.
He also urged people around Baraka to be honest with him about the challenges involved, instead of simply encouraging his international ambitions.
Baraka, however, appeared unimpressed by the advice, insisting that his vision extends beyond the local market.
“It’s sad that some of the people we are supposed to look up to have very shallow mindsets. They want to be kings of the pond. Me, I want to be the king of an ocean. I want to be a shark,” Baraka said in response.
