Singer Nina Kakunda, popularly known as Nina Roz, has received a major political boost after former army commander and Alliance for National Transition (ANT) leader Gen. Mugisha Muntu publicly endorsed her candidacy for the Sembabule District Woman MP position.
While campaigning in Sembabule on Tuesday, Muntu urged residents to rally behind Nina Roz in next year’s elections, emphasizing the need for opposition unity in constituencies where ANT has no candidate.
“I am kindly asking for your support because I’m running for the presidential position,” Muntu said. “I also appeal to all of you to vote for Nina Roz because she is the opposition candidate in this race. Our political party has no candidate for the Woman MP seat, but she subscribes to NUP — so cast your votes in her favor.”
In September this year, Nina Roz was officially handed the National Unity Platform (NUP) flag to contest for the seat, joining a growing list of entertainers turning to politics.
The endorsement from Gen. Muntu is seen as a significant vote of confidence in Nina Roz’s leadership potential and could further strengthen her chances in the upcoming 2026 general elections.
