Legendary musician Joseph Mayanja, popularly known as Chameleone, has openly declared his support for President Yoweri Museveni ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The veteran artist has been actively mobilizing for the incumbent across different parts of the country.
Speaking in an interview with US-based YouTuber Omubbi Masembe, Chameleone took a swipe at his longtime friend and fellow musician-turned-politician Bobi Wine, claiming the National Unity Platform (NUP) leader has no real voters in Uganda.
“The people who follow Bobi Wine are not voters. Those are just his fans who come to see him as a music star. He has no voters across the country,” Chameleone said.
He argued that Bobi Wine’s popularity is largely rooted in his music career, not his political ideology, adding that fame and political support are two different things.
Despite his firm political stance, Chameleone maintained that he holds no grudge against Bobi Wine and wished him well in his political journey.
