Celebrated singer Stabua Natooro, known for her lively and uplifting music, has revealed why she is often seen performing at NRM events across the country — particularly in the Central and Eastern regions of Uganda.
Speaking in an interview, the “Ndi Wuwo” hitmaker explained that her frequent appearances at NRM functions are purely business-related, not political. She said the ruling party is simply the one that books and pays her for performances whenever opportunities arise.
“I perform for NRM because they are the people who hire me. They give me their money to perform. My music cuts across all political parties, but at the moment, I’m hired by NRM,” Natooro explained.
The singer added that she is open to performing for any political party as long as she is appreciated and compensated for her work.
“I think every artist should perform wherever he or she feels free and valued,” she added.
Stabua Natooro’s comments come amid ongoing debate about musicians aligning themselves with political parties, with many artists emphasizing that their performances should not be mistaken for political endorsement.
