Musician Moses Ssali, popularly known as Bebe Cool, has launched a scathing attack on fellow NRM mobiliser and presidential advisor Eddy Kenzo, accusing him of speaking “out of ignorance” on matters concerning Uganda’s copyright management system.
While addressing the media, Bebe Cool dismissed Kenzo’s recent comments on copyright reforms, saying the award-winning singer does not fully understand how the system works.
“The musician who publicised the copyright management system speaks out of ignorance. He really doesn’t understand what he speaks about and that’s a problem,” Bebe Cool said.
According to the Gagamel boss, Kenzo’s remarks were driven more by excitement than knowledge, warning that such statements risk misleading the music industry.
Bebe Cool further explained that the copyright management system cannot function effectively on its own and must be backed by proper legal reforms.
“The copyright management system can only achieve its goals with the amendment of the copyright law. It can never work in isolation the way he suggested. That is what we should be focusing on,” he added.
The fresh exchange deepens the growing rift between the two influential musicians, whose disagreements have increasingly spilled into public view as debates around politics, leadership and the future of Uganda’s music industry intensify.
