In a major legal update from Kampala, the High Court has thrown out the election petition filed by Bwowe Ivan challenging the nomination of Joel Ssenyonyi and other candidates for the Nakawa West Constituency.
Bwowe Ivan — the People’s Front for Freedom candidate — had asked the court to nullify the nominations, claiming that Ssenyonyi and others were contesting in a non-existent constituency, based on documents he presented to the Electoral Commission.
But today, Judge Collins Acellam delivered the verdict dismissing the petition, ruling that Joel Ssenyonyi and the other candidates were rightfully nominated to contest in Nakawa West.
That means Ssenyonyi and colleagues remain on course for the ballot as the campaign season rolls on. 🗳️🇺🇬
