Media personality Justine Nameere has rejected the outcome of the Masaka City Woman Member of Parliament elections, demanding a vote recount and vowing to seek legal redress.

Nameere, who previously enjoyed a successful media career, has continued to struggle politically, recording another poor performance in the 2026 general elections, following a similar setback in 2021.

She lost the Masaka City Woman MP race to Rose Nalubowa, who was declared the winner in the just concluded polls. However, Nameere insists the results do not reflect the will of the people.

Speaking in an interview with a local television station, Nameere claimed the election was marred by irregularities and alleged she was cheated.

“I have been cheated and I do not believe in the announced results. I am heading to court to seek remedies, including demanding a recount of the votes,” Nameere said.

Her defeat places her among several media personalities and celebrities who failed to secure parliamentary seats in the 2026 elections, including Miles Rwamiti, Dr Hilderman, Geoffrey Lutaaya, and Kayemba Solomon, among others.
