Outgoing Member of Parliament for Nakaseke South, Paul Lutamaguzi Semakula, has announced that he will no longer participate in any future elections as long as the NRM government remains in power.

Lutamaguzi made the declaration after losing his parliamentary seat to NRM’s Charles Kavuma Nsereko in the recently concluded general elections.

Speaking in an interview with Flavia Namulindwa, the opposition legislator said he has completely lost faith in Uganda’s electoral process, claiming his victory was forcefully taken from him.

“There is no justice in this country. I won that election resoundingly, but my victory was snatched from me like an eagle snatching a chick. As long as elections are organised under this regime, participating in them is pointless,” Lutamaguzi said.

He further accused Gen. Salim Saleh, the President’s brother, of influencing his defeat — allegations that add to long-standing claims by opposition politicians of military and state interference in Uganda’s elections.

Lutamaguzi served as MP for Nakaseke South and was seeking re-election in the 2026 polls.
