The burial of Masaka-based businessman Bosco Ssenyonjo Bitanda and his two children has been delayed following a heated family dispute over where they should be laid to rest.
According to reports, one of the widows claimed that the deceased had instructed her that in the event of his death, he and his children should be buried on newly acquired land in Mukungwe, where he had started constructing a retirement home.
However, this claim has been strongly rejected by relatives, including his mother, who dismissed it as false.
Family members further alleged that the late businessman had previously raised concerns about the same widow, accusing her of attempting to harm him through poison and witchcraft after he reportedly got involved with another woman with whom he had twins.
The dispute has since taken a cultural dimension, with relatives insisting that burying the deceased on the new land would violate Buganda cultural norms.
They argue that such a move could bring misfortune to the family, including deaths among relatives, unless traditional burial practices are respected.
The late Bosco Bitanda tragically died alongside his two children in a fatal accident on the Entebbe Expressway earlier this week as they were heading to the airport.
The burial arrangements remain on hold as the family continues to seek a resolution to the standoff.
