Songstress Rema Namakula has revealed that she has blacklisted Mbale as a performance destination due to safety concerns.
Despite being one of the most loved and booked artists across Uganda, Rema says past experiences in the region have left her unwilling to return.
“I am afraid of Mbale. Even if you invite me there, I can’t go. There has been chaos,” she said.
The singer recalled a particular incident where she was performing alongside Sheebah Karungi, and things got out of hand.
She credited dancer Slick Stuart for stepping in and helping her during the situation.
“At one point when I was there with Sheebah, Slick Stuart helped me a lot during one of the incidents. I’m very grateful,” she added.
Rema’s remarks highlight ongoing concerns about artist safety at events, especially in areas where crowd control and security may be lacking.
