Musician Mike Wine has said he played a key role in introducing Cindy Sanyu to dancehall music at a time when she had not yet considered the genre for her solo career.

Speaking in an interview, Mike Wine explained that he met Cindy shortly after she had left the Blu*3 music group and noticed her potential to thrive in dancehall.

According to him, the meeting happened when Cindy and singer Cute Kaye were on their way to support Bobi Wine at one of his concerts.

“I met Cindy shortly after she left Blu*3. She and Cute Kaye were going to support Bobi Wine at his concert. I immediately saw that she had the potential to do dancehall, even though she did not believe in it at first,” Mike Wine said.

He added that he encouraged her to experiment with the genre in the studio, despite her initial hesitation.

“I asked her to try something in dancehall. At first, she was reluctant, but later she embraced the idea and went on to do amazing things with the genre,” he added.

Mike Wine also praised Cindy’s talent, saying she remains one of the strongest female dancehall artistes in Uganda and that few in the industry match her ability in the genre.
