Singer Kenneth Mugabi has shared his personal beliefs, saying he identifies as spiritual rather than religious, and believes religion was created by humans.

Speaking in an interview on KFM Radio, the singer explained that spirituality is deeply rooted in African culture and identity, while religion is a human-made system.

“Religion is man-made. In Africa, we don’t have religion; instead, we have spirituality,” he said.

The “Nkwegomba” hitmaker noted that this belief system strongly influences his music and creative direction, which he says is inspired by African traditions, values, and spirituality.

He described himself as a cultural ambassador whose music goes beyond entertainment to preserve and promote African identity.

When asked about relationships, Kenneth said his choice of partner would depend on their level of religiosity.

“It would depend on the degree of religiousness,” he said.

Kenneth Mugabi remains known for his folk-inspired sound and strong focus on cultural storytelling in Ugandan music.
