Musician Jose Chameleone has accused event promoters of trying to undermine his upcoming concert by bringing several foreign artistes to Uganda around the same period.

With Kampala’s entertainment calendar filling up with concerts and music events, Chameleone believes the growing number of international performances could affect attendance at his show scheduled for December 4 at Lugogo Cricket Oval.

The singer questioned the decision to prioritise foreign performers, arguing that more support should be directed towards local artistes and the Ugandan music industry.

“I am seeing they are trying hard to sabotage my concert with foreign musicians. The influx of those artistes is aimed at weakening Chameleone’s show. They don’t want to see anything good for me. It is even affecting the local industry; instead of empowering the musicians, they are weakening them for foreigners,” he said.

Several international acts, including Diamond Platnumz, Konshens, Fally Ipupa and Uncle Waffles, are scheduled to perform in Kampala around the period leading up to Chameleone’s concert.

The singer’s remarks come amid competition for audiences, as local and international performers seek to attract fans to their respective shows.

However, Chameleone’s claim that the events are intended to sabotage his concert remains an allegation, with no evidence provided in the account to establish that the promoters are deliberately working against him.
