Newly elected Masaka City Member of Parliament Justine Nameere has said her key focus in Parliament will be tackling corruption.

Nameere, who recently took oath after defeating NUP’s Rose Nalubowa in a controversial recount, is set to begin her parliamentary duties as the 12th Parliament convenes, including the election of the Speaker.

Speaking about her priorities, Nameere said she intends to push for accountability and improved service delivery by fighting corruption within government structures.

She explained that addressing corruption will help ensure that citizens, including those in Masaka City, benefit more effectively from government services.

“I will focus on fighting corruption as soon as I enter Parliament. People are not getting services because of corruption. We need to tackle it and eliminate it completely,” she said during an interview with a local television station.
