Musician Bruno K has hit back at critics who accuse him of using his social media platforms to showcase charity work while allegedly benefiting financially from donations raised for people in need.
Bruno K dismissed the accusations as coming from “shallow-minded” people, insisting that money collected through fundraising campaigns he promotes is meant for the intended beneficiaries.
Speaking in an interview with a local television station, the singer said he has never considered taking a share of donations raised through his platforms.
He cited an incident involving Pastor Wilson Bugembe’s church, where he helped mobilise funds and was later asked by Bugembe how much he wanted from the collection.
“I told him, ‘I don’t need anything, Pastor. You can take all the money,’” he said in part.
Bruno K explained that he considers the blessings and satisfaction he receives from helping others to be a sufficient reward for his charity work.
“I have a rich heart and I can’t start taking things that belong to the people in need,” he added.
The singer also urged fellow celebrities and influencers to use their platforms to make a positive difference in society, arguing that having a large following means little if it is not used to support the communities that follow them.
For Bruno K, charity is part of his responsibility to give back and use his influence to help people facing difficult circumstances.
