Musician Eddy Kenzo says he has moved beyond the long-running “Big Three” debate in Uganda’s music industry, insisting that his achievements place him in a different category.

Commenting on the discussion, Kenzo said he does not consider himself to be competing with artistes commonly grouped among the country’s Big Three. The Big Talent Entertainment boss argued that placing him in the same category undermines his achievements and the path he has taken in music.

“I am beyond the Big Three talk and discussion. I am not on that level. Whoever puts me in there is just trying to put me down. I have done unique things; I have gone beyond,” Kenzo said.

The singer added that he is not currently competing with any musician, saying his attention is on building his legacy rather than comparing his career with those of other artistes.

“I came here to build my legacy, not to compete with anyone else. I am focused on that and the people who continue to support me,” he added.

Kenzo’s remarks add another perspective to the debate over Uganda’s leading musicians, a discussion that has continued to attract attention from artistes and music fans.
