Musician D-Star has questioned Kapeke’s status in Uganda’s music industry, describing him as an upcoming artiste despite the recognition he has received.

Speaking in an interview with a local television station, D-Star expressed frustration with people who name artistes such as Kapeke “Artiste of the Year.” He argued that, in his view, Kapeke has not yet reached that level in his music career.

“Which songs did he even sing? He is still starting up. I am far better,” D-Star said.

The Hozambe hitmaker added that the music industry has different levels of success, which he believes many people fail to recognise. He said he intends to demonstrate the differences through his own musical career.

D-Star also criticised Kapeke’s sound, claiming that the young artiste relies on similar beats across his songs, making his music repetitive.

“He has no song that makes sense,” D-Star said.

The singer further dismissed the idea of engaging in a music battle to prove his abilities, maintaining that he does not need to compete directly with another artiste to demonstrate his musical standing.

His remarks have added to the debate surrounding Kapeke’s growing recognition and place in Uganda’s music industry.
