President-elect Yoweri Museveni has been served with petition papers by independent candidate John Patrick Amama Mbabazi's lawyers following the election petition that was filled at the Supreme Court.
Severino Twinobusingye, the head of Mbabazi’s legal team served the president at State house Entebbe on Thursday evening, moments after his arrival from Arusha Tanzania.
Mbabazi who was distant third in the recent presidential election petitioned the Supreme Court decrying a litany of irregularities in the February 18th polls.
According to a statement from State house, the president will respond to the petition in the legally mandated time frame of three days.
On the other hand, the Supreme Court will on Monday start pre-hearing the petition, and those served include the Directorate of Legal Service, National Resistance Movement –NRM party Secretariat, the Electoral Commission and the Attorney General.
