
There are high chances of heavier rains in the Western region of Uganda according to the Meteorological report of this morning.
Hon Flavia Munabi, the Minister of State of Environment has this morning issued the weather forecast for March, and April this year.
According to Hon Munabi, the eastern part if Uganda has started receiving seasonal rains, while other regions have started experiencing dry spells like in Yumbe and nearby areas.
She explains that in Western parts and central Uganda, the pick of rains is expected in mid April, while there are high chances of areas expecting normal rain fall to receive rainfall in the average means.
Hon. Munabi advised people to use irrigation where possible on pasture and use water sparingly, plant drought resistant crops, and appropriate measures should be taken to avoid negative impact of climate hazards.
Munabi adds; “In case of lightening, leaders at community levels should encourage people to use lightening conductors, there is a likelihood of drowning. Human activity should be regulated therefore.”
She also advised that; “Solar and bio gas energy should be highly utilized during this season, put in place emergency remedies related to climate change. This goes to the local leaders.”
General hygiene around schools and homes should be increased and maintained. Contact the Office of the Prime Minister in case of any related impact of climate changes.
