Over the weekend, promoters, led by Abbey Musinguzi, also known as Abitex, traveled to and camped in Gulu city in an attempt to meet with General Salim Saleh.

However, they faced difficulties just a few hours after arriving in the Northern Uganda-based city.

According to reports, the promoters were chased from Gulu, and some were allegedly beaten. It's alleged that General Salim Saleh declined to meet with them, which prompted security to intervene.

Events promoter Nobart is among those affected, as he is seen in a video exchanging heated words with security personnel after a scuffle.

Promoters spent the better part of last week expressing their grievances. They allege that Kenzo refused to share with them funds received from the government to boost the creative industry.

They are now seeking a meeting with General Salim Saleh, wanting the retired army commander to address their grievances with "brown envelopes," as he has done before.

General Salim Saleh, however, earlier this year publicly announced he would not be meeting with creatives anymore. He ordered them to always approach the UNMF for their needs to be addressed.
