Band musician Stecia Mayanja was recently elected as the President of the National Peasants Party of Uganda.
The singer, who assumed party leadership last month, has spoken out about her strength, revealing she is determined to bring change to the country.
Stecia Mayanja explained that she has a past just like everyone else but argued she shouldn't be judged by that history.
The singer says her past simply made her a better person because she has gone through different struggles, which have hardened her. She is now a formidable leader.
"I shouldn't be judged by my history; my past just made me a better person who is ready to serve. I have gone through all hardships here in the country but also tried living abroad. I have seen it all and will do better," she explained while addressing the press over the weekend.
Stecia Mayanja says that as a political party, they are willing to work with different opposition political parties and individuals to bring about change.
Mayanja also says she will be contesting for the highest office in the land come the 2026 general elections.
