Singer Wyclif Tugume, popularly known as Ykee Benda, has applauded Cinderella Sanyu (Cindy) for her outstanding leadership and resilience as president of the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA).

Ykee Benda, who briefly served as UMA president after Sophie Gombya stepped down to join active politics, resigned just three months into the role — paving the way for Cindy’s leadership in February 2021.

Since then, Cindy has been at the helm of UMA, navigating the association through turbulent times, a feat that has earned her respect from both fans and fellow musicians.

“Cindy is both a capable leader and a remarkably strong woman,” Ykee Benda said. “At the moment, the Musicians Federation is doing great compared to UMA, but Cindy has remained in control and deserves her flowers.”

Ykee Benda also acknowledged the growth of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), led by Eddy Kenzo, while maintaining deep appreciation for Cindy’s continued dedication to UMA.

He noted that despite challenges in the industry, Cindy’s steadfast leadership and commitment to artists’ welfare have kept UMA relevant and stable over the years.
