Veteran musician Buchaman, who worked closely with Bobi Wine during the formation of Firebase Crew in the early 2000s, has shared some surprising revelations about the crew’s early days.

Speaking in a recent interview, Buchaman claimed that Nubian Li was already a star before Bobi Wine gained recognition.

According to him, Bobi Wine used to admire Nubian Li, who was receiving performance bookings long before the “Ghetto President” made a name for himself.

“Nubian Li was a music star in the late nineties when we were just starting out. Bobi Wine used to admire him. He would get bookings before us and was paid between UGX 50,000 to 100,000 per show,” Buchaman explained.

He further noted that Nubian Li’s career slowed down when he decided to return to school, giving room for Bobi Wine and the rest of Firebase to dominate the scene.

“He was up there musically but declined after going back to school. By the time he returned, we were already running the city, and I helped bring him back on board,” he added.
