The Commander of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has finally broken his silence on the controversial army invasion of Bobi Wine’s home in Magere.
Muhoozi confirmed that the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) stormed the residence while pursuing the President of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine.
However, the CDF strongly warned that any soldier found to have mishandled or touched Barbie Kyagulanyi, Bobi Wine’s wife, will face severe punishment.
According to Muhoozi, UPDF soldiers are professionally trained on how to handle civilians, especially women, and any form of misconduct will not be tolerated.
“If any soldier even attempted to touch Barbie, he will be punished very severely! All our troops are briefed on how to handle women. Give us the details,” Muhoozi wrote.
Muhoozi further demanded that anyone with information or evidence against soldiers involved in the alleged mistreatment should come forward and provide details.
Despite the backlash, the CDF maintained that security forces are still pursuing Bobi Wine, who is said to be on the run following the general elections.
The incident has continued to spark outrage online, with many Ugandans condemning the military operation and demanding accountability for the alleged harassment of Barbie Kyagulanyi.
