Events promoter Abbey Musinguzi, popularly known as Abitex, has criticized Jose Chameleone's decision to step away from a potential concert clash with fellow musician King Saha.
Speaking about the matter, Abitex described Chameleone's move as unnecessary, arguing that the veteran singer should have maintained his original plans despite reports of another major concert being scheduled around the same date.
According to Abitex, both artists command large fan bases and could have successfully hosted separate events without negatively affecting each other's attendance.
“Chameleone expressed cowardice by attempting to move his concert just because of clashing on the same date with King Saha. He feared, yet both events would have been successful,” Abitex said.
The promoter further argued that the two musicians appeal to different audiences, making it possible for both concerts to thrive if held simultaneously.
Abitex also pointed to the differing political affiliations often associated with the artists and their supporters, suggesting that this would have further reduced direct competition between the two events.
He maintained that Chameleone's status as one of Uganda's most accomplished musicians should have given him the confidence to proceed with the concert regardless of any scheduling conflicts.
The comments come after Chameleone announced that he had relinquished a previously booked date at Lugogo Cricket Oval, a move that sparked widespread discussion within the entertainment industry. King Saha later clarified that he had no intention of organizing a concert on the same date, effectively ending speculation about a direct clash between the two artists.
Despite the debate, both musicians remain among Uganda's biggest music stars, with fans continuing to await official announcements regarding their future concert plans.
