Ugandan film industry is surely making small but significant progress. Olympian Kiprotich Stephen and former Miss  Uganda, Leah Kalanguka have earned prestigious movie roles in a new movie. Titled "Sipi" the movie narrates an eye opening survival tale of a young man ( acted by Sammy Wetala) who was displaced by the tragic Budada land slides.

The movie brings to life the struggle young  people go through beyond the relief aid delivered at  disaster hit areas. Jayant Maru the director  dares to narrate how the young man moves to Kampala and finds himself  trapped by the struggles of the slums and chaotic, unforgiving streets of the city. Luck gets to his way, his life turns round after a chance meeting with  Stephen Kiprotich.

The movie boosts of high quality pictures, cinematography and sound. It was shot in various places including Mbale; capturing the cultural aspects therein while cerebrating the scenic beauty of Sipi falls and lofty altitude dressed by plush greenery. Scenes of city streets and adrenaline raising effort of our gold medalist working out while surely be worth watching.

Sensational singer Tshilla and  Aakalo have lent their soulful. voice to the musical of the movie. Sipi proudly strives to bring authentic sound, picture and indigenous story in our own backyard.

It is produced by Rohit Pandit, Ajaye, and Pandit Ankit under APEX-R1 media . It also  stars Nkakalungi Patrick, Blessing Naturinda, Stephen Katusiime, Night Simonela. Abdul Rahim, Kahunde Leah, Felix Bwanika and a special guest appearance by  Leah Kalanguka. Cinematography and sound was by Kasmed Kasoma and Senkubba Adnan respectively.
