The Uganda Musicians Association(UMA) president, Sophie Gombya, says many musicians are grassing. They don't have money to pay rent anymore since they haven't been working for than 3 months. They often spend all their earnings, saving nothing. In the long run, this has affected their daily lives since they have no money to finance their luxurious lifestyles. Sophie Gombya is advising most of the affected musicians to downsize to cheaper houses to avoid being evicted.

"Musicians always live beyond their means, that's why many will continue to be chased from rented houses. Some of them need to move to cheaper houses if they are to survive being evicted by landlords," she said during a local television interview.

Sophie Gombya's comments followed an incident where Band singer Bettina Namukasa was chased  from her rented house over rent arrears of Shs. 500,000.
