Top music label Swangz Avenue has for years maintained its position as one of Uganda’s leading entertainment powerhouses, producing some of the country’s biggest music stars.
However, fans were surprised when none of its artistes featured on President Yoweri Museveni’s music album, which was released in September this year.
The project, spearheaded by Eddy Kenzo and the Uganda National Musicians Federation, brought together several artistes from across the country to record songs praising the President and his achievements.
Speaking about the matter, Vinka explained that the Swangz Avenue team was never invited to participate in the project or the album launch held in Munyonyo, which is why they were not part of it.
“I was never invited for President Museveni’s album launch,” Vinka said. “We were never called to perform or contribute any music to the album. We didn’t have any invitations, so we couldn’t just show up where we were not needed.”
Vinka emphasized that the label’s absence was not intentional, but simply a result of lack of communication from the organizers.
Despite missing out on the high-profile project, Swangz Avenue continues to dominate the local music scene, with its stars — including Vinka, Azawi, Zafaran, and Elijah Kitaka — releasing chart-topping hits and representing Uganda on major platforms.
