We Were Not Paid to Record President Museveni’s Album – Eddy Kenzo

President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), Eddy Kenzo, has spoken out following public criticism over his involvement in President Museveni’s music album, which was launched last month.

The album, featuring several Ugandan artists, contains songs praising President Museveni’s leadership and his contribution to Uganda’s peace and development. However, the project sparked controversy, with critics accusing Kenzo and his team of exploiting the opportunity for financial gain.

Addressing the claims during a TikTok discussion over the weekend, Kenzo dismissed the allegations, insisting that neither he nor the other participating musicians were paid to record the album.

“We were not paid to record President Museveni’s album. It’s something we did for free — me and some friends of mine who support him. We did it as a gift to thank him for what he has done for the music industry and the country at large. It’s our way of appreciating the peace and freedom he has provided,” Kenzo explained.

He further noted that the songs on the album have been well-received and serve to highlight the President’s achievements throughout his years in leadership.
