Musician Eddy Kenzo, real name Edirisa Musuuza, has made a U-turn on his earlier decision to resign as President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) following a fallout with the Ministry of Finance.

Earlier this week, an audio recording leaked online in which Kenzo expressed frustration over the ministry’s alleged failure to release funds meant for the artists’ SACCO under the UNMF. In the recording, Kenzo accused some government officials of trying to weaken the federation by channeling the money to different associations instead of through the UNMF.

However, speaking to journalists, Kenzo clarified that the audio was misinterpreted and was originally a private discussion between him and fellow federation leaders. He said after consultations with members and government officials, he decided to stay in his position while the matter is being resolved.

“I spoke to the members, and they told me to first wait. I also received calls from big people who advised me not to rush. So we’re okay now — I’m still here,” Kenzo explained.

The “Sitya Loss” star emphasized that his main concern remains the proper coordination of government support to artists. He insists the Ministry of Finance should release the funds through the UNMF SACCO, arguing that distributing the money through multiple associations only breeds division and undermines unity among musicians.
