The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga has today launched a campaign, dubbed “a land title for everyone” set to ensure that all tenants occupying the Kabaka’s land get land titles, in the next six months.

During a press conference at Bulange mengo this morning, Mayiga said the move by Buganda Land Board, BLB seeks to legitimize tenancy and disputes in Biganda region.

Mayiga told the media that the campaign does not just seek to advance the mutual relations between the kabaka and his subjects, but is also a way of him paying them back for the tremendous contributions they have made towards the development of Buganda Kingdom.

“This is a directive from the kabaka who is eager to sort out the land disputes amongst his subjects. He is conscious of the fact that most land disputes are a result of the absence of land titles” Mayiga said.

He explains that the campaign seeks to ensure that every tenant on the kabaka’s land gets a land title and make certain that this is achieved; prices of acquisition of land titles have been heavily subsidized for the next six months.
