Singer Bobi Wine is detained at Makindye military barracks on cases of treason, illegal possession of fire arms and ammunitions.

In a bid to demand for his release, his fans took to the streets of Kampala and other parts of the country to protest his continued detention. In the process, very many protesters were arrested and some journalists were beaten while covering the protests.

The Ministry Of Defence And Veteran affairs, Uganda People's Defence Forces on behalf of the government has issued an apology to the journalists that were thumped by the soldiers.

In a letter dated 21st August, the security body apologises for the unprofessional conduct of the soldiers. The Chief Of Defence Forces(CDF) has also ordered the immediate arrest and punishment of the unruly soldiers.

It is remembered that the Reuters photojournalist, James Akena was beaten to pulp by soldiers during the Free Bobi Wine protest in Kampala.

Furthermore, Bobi Wine is set to appear before the court martial on Thursday this week.
