Uganda is set to host the 46th Session of the African Regional Labour Administration Centre Governing Council Meeting (ARLAC-GCM) from 10th to 14th February 2020.

According to Ofwono Opondo the Government Spokesperson, hosting the event is a vote of confidence in the leadership of the Country and its achievements locally and Internationally.

He added that Cabinet sitting on Monday January 27th, observed that hosting the meeting provides a convenient forum for promoting African Unity and discussion.
“Uganda stands to benefit from hosting ARLAC Labour Administration Training, Development and Research Programmes through improved Skills and Competencies of the Labour Administration Institutions and Structures in the Country” he added.

Cabinet also approved the Periodic Report of the Government of Uganda on the Implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women. 

The objective of the report is to give an account of the Government’s efforts to eliminate all forms of discrimination against Women and Girls and respond to the concluding observations and recommendations of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against women.
