Members of the ruling National Resistance Movement, NRM party in Soroti are today Monday holding the city councilors and divisional Mayor primaries which were held on Friday in other parts of the country. 

The district did not hold elections on Friday due to failure by the authorities to gazette the electoral boundaries.

According to Musa Oroma the NRM district registrar, the party leadership has been in consultative meetings with the responsible elections authorities to finalize gazetting the boundaries and the party members are voting today Monday 14th September.

He mentioned Agora, Oderai, Arapai, Nakatunya, Aloet, Pamba, Akisim, Senior quarters, Majengo, Opiyai and Agama as some of the areas that were previously not demarcated and now have been cleared to conduct the elections in both Soroti West Constituency and Soroti East Constituency.

The Soroti City NRM Chairperson Willy Bisanga, says the district and municipal council have already harmonized on the city boundaries and which areas have been annexed to the city.
