Sironko district leadership is in trouble after ten councilors petitioned Mbale high court to compel the district to pay them their ex-gratia worth Shillings 90 million.

According to Allan Muduku the representative of Bukise Sub County and one of the petitioners, each councilor is entitled to Shillings 520,000 during each quarter of the financial year.

However, Muduku says that the district did not pay them all monies between 2017 and 2020 for unknown reasons.

He explains that their attempts to seek an explanation from the Chief Administrative Officer-CAO did not yield results forcing them to seek legal redress.

But, Bernard Seguya the Sironko Chief Administrative Officer attributes the nonpayment of the ten councilors to delayed funding of the newly created administrative units by central government.

Seguya says that they are yet to receive funding for the newly created sub counties and town councils like Butandiga, Mutufu and Bugusenge among others.

No political or technical leader in the newly created sub-counties and town councils, is currently receiving any payment from the central government, according to Seguya.

However, the Budadiri East member of parliament Isaiah Sasanga Wanzira, has promised to follow the matter in parliament.
