Chilling new evidence presented in court yesterday has painted a portrait of a calculated and radicalized killer.

Christopher Okello Onyum, the prime suspect in the brutal murder of four toddlers at a Ggaba daycare centre, reportedly spent weeks scouting multiple schools and researching execution methods before the attack.

Digital forensics tendered by the prosecution revealed that Onyum’s online activity was not a series of random searches, but a systematic "hunting" process that spanned across Kampala and Wakiso districts.

A Map of Targets

While the attack ultimately took place in Ggaba, the evidence suggests several other facilities may have been in Onyum’s crosshairs. His search history included extensive data mining on:

  • Matugga Area: Matugga Preschool, Lam Kindergarten and Daycare Centre, Edibet ECD (Kiiti Road), and Golden Infant Kindergarten.

  • Kyanja: Kyanja Junior School.

  • Ssemuto Road: Mom’s Love Kindergarten.

Investigators also noted specific searches regarding Church Close in Ggaba, the immediate vicinity of the daycare where the tragedy occurred.

Radicalization and Weaponry

In a disturbing turn, the court heard that Onyum was allegedly drawing inspiration from international terror groups. His search history included queries about ISIS and specific, graphic instructions on how to behead victims.

The digital trail also highlighted his efforts to arm himself. Records show Onyum searched for information on how long it takes to acquire a firearm in Uganda. Perhaps sensing the difficulty of obtaining a gun, he also scrutinized the proximity of law enforcement, specifically researching Bunga Police Station.

The Forensic Link

These digital revelations bolster an already strong forensic case against Onyum. Earlier in the proceedings, the court was informed that DNA evidence recovered from the "killer knife"—the weapon used in the Ggaba massacre—directly matches the suspect.

"The evidence suggests this wasn't a momentary lapse of reason, but a cold, deliberate plan fueled by extremist curiosity," a source close to the investigation noted.

The trial continues as the prosecution prepares to call further witnesses to the stand. Onyum remains in custody.
