A European Union delegation has this afternoon met and held discussions with troubled FDC leader Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye at his house in Kasangati where he is being kept under house arrest.
Upon arrival in a big convoy, the officials were denied entry into the residence, as police officers manning security at Besigye’s home made unending phone calls.
They would later be led into the heavily guarded mansion by Andrew Felix Kaweesi, the Director of Human Resource development Uganda Police. They were however asked to park far from the residence.
The talks lasted a few hours, and just after they had left, Dr. Besigye got a chance to speak with the media who had all along camped outside.
Sources within the circles say the delegation and Besigye discussed Uganda's current political situation & his freedom.
The delegation included the Irish ambassador, the French, British and US deputy ambassadors as well as several other unidentified officials.
