Alfred Martin Aruo, the incumbent Soroti Municipality mayor has lost the seat to Paul Omer, the Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party candidate.

John Paul Osinde, the Soroti District Returning Officer declared Omer elected with 6,211 votes representing 55.4 percent.

In Kabale municipality, Dr. Pius Ruhemurana, the incumbent Mayor lost his seat bringing to an end his 20 year reign.

Ruhemurana lost to his independent rival, Sentaro Byamugisha, the incumbent Kabale Central Division LC 3 chairperson.

Sarah Birungi, the Assistant Kabale District Returning Officer, declared Byamugisha elected at mid night at Kabale Rukiiko hall.

The incumbent mayor of Mbale Municipality and Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party candidate, Mutwalib Zandya has retained his seat with a landslide victory.

Rashid Musinguzi, the Mbale District Registrar, declared Zandya elected at about 5:40am this morning after trouncing seven other candidates.

The National Resistance Movement-NRM party candidate, Alhaji Isha Kato is the new mayor for Arua municipality.

Ruth Angom, the Arua District Returning Officer, declared Kato elected last night after garnering 5,460 votes.

Meanwhile,

George Labeja, the incumbent Gulu Municipality mayor has retained his seat.

Labeja, who dropped out of the ruling NRM party and crossed to the Go forward pressure group, beat his NRM rival, Alfred Okwonga with a difference of 817 votes.

Labeja garnered 6,556 votes against Okwonga's 5,739 votes.

A pastor at Rupa Christian Fellowship church in Moroto district has been declared winner of the mayoral elections in Moroto Municipality.

The district returning officer, Joyce Achan Aleper, declared Noah Ewaru 39, winner at Moroto district electoral office, a few minutes past 8:00pm.

In Kasese, the NRM candidate Godfrey Kabyanga won the race, beating his closest rival James Kabakwa.

Lawrence Mbonigaba, the district registrar declared Kabyanga winner last night at 9:00PM.

Richard Ochom, an independent candidate has emerged winner in the newly created Kumi municipality.

Robert Kakyebezi was declared the winner for Mbarara Municipality. He beat Stanley Katembeya of FDC

He is the first mayor of the area.
