Former Ministry of Finance Permanent Secretary Mr. Christopher Manyindo Kassami has this morning passed away at Nairobi Hospital.
Kassami had for over 20 years, served as PS to the Treasury, Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development of Republic of Uganda. Bank of Uganda posted on its official Facebook page that Mr. Kassami died at Nairobi Hospital in Kenya, during the morning of March 11, 2016.
Mr. Kassami has been a Member of the Board of Directors of the Bank since 2001. Mr. Kassami was a seasoned civil servant who served in many public sector roles including as Permanent Secretary and Secretary to the Treasury in the Ministry of Finance, Planning & Economic Development from 2001 to 2013.
Mr. Kassami also served as the Chairman of East African Development Bank from November 3, 2011 to May 24, 2013 and its Director until May 24, 2013. The Central Bank also announced that Funeral details would be announced in due course.
