President Yoweri Museveni has asked all lazy, useless and corrupt government officials to resign their jobs uprightly or lose them dishonorably.
Addressing Ugandan workers who showed up for Labour Day celebrations in Hoima yesterday, the president said all officials frustrating the economic development of the country will be dealt with.
Museveni who is yet to be sworn in for the next five year term as Uganda’s president said; “those who have been in the habit of paralyzing government decisions of not implementing what they are supposed to implement, of being negligent in their area of responsibility, their time is over. In this coming kisanja, we shall have none of that.”
He added; in the past we were held hostage by those people because we did not have enough educated people. But we now have, we have got a lot of our children who are educated, and who are zealous to work. People who are tired of working, instead of waiting to be disciplined, they should simply retire and we say good bye to them in a gentleman way and move on, because we are not going to tolerate those games anymore.”
The president was responding to a call by Wilson Owere, the chairman General NOTU, to have politicians off their back, claiming they sabotage their work. Owere says they are tired of politicians meddling in their duties as workers of this country.
