The troubled Kampala Capital city, KCCA Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and lord councilors will be sworn in on Monday June 6th 2016.
The development follows a request by the Inspector general of police, Gen. Kale Kayihura to have the day moved from today June 1st.
Gen. Kayihura in a letter dated May 30, to the Executive Director of Kampala Jennifer Musisi, argued that police does not have enough man power to facilitate the ceremony that would have fallen on the same day, president Museveni is hosting his Turkish counterpart Recep Erdogan, and the Martyrs’ day celebrations slated for this week.
He said that; “The focus of the police and sister security forces is to effectively secure the visits of the visiting head of state and the pilgrims for the Uganda Martyrs’ day against threats of terrorism and other security and crime related concerns.”
Now, in a Statement issued today morning, the acting public relations officer Peter Kaujju said the much anticipated swearing in ceremony for the Lord Mayor and KCCA Councilors will be held on Monday June 6.
